About Yokai Snow woman

A beautiful female specter that appears on snowy nights is a “snow woman.

She freezes people to death with her cold breath. In Koizumi Yakumo’s “Ghost Story,

” the snow woman appears to an old man and a young man.

The old man kills the young man by blowing on him,

and then tells the young man that he has met the snow woman and lets her go,

only to have her become the young man’s wife.

However, the young man told his wife that he had met the Snow Woman, and she took the child and left him.

 

妖怪雪女について

雪の降る夜に現れる美しい女性の妖怪「雪女」

雪女は冷たい息で人を凍え死にさせる。

小泉八雲の『怪談』より。

雪山で遭難した老人と若者の前に現れた雪女は、老人は息を吹きかけて殺し、

青年には「雪女に会った事を誰にも言ってはならん」と言って逃がす。

後に雪女は青年の妻になる。

青年は自分の妻が雪女だとは知らず、

ある晩口を滑らせ、雪女にあったことがあると妻に告げてしまう。

突如、愛しい妻は雪女の姿になり、子供を連れて男の元から去っていった。
