若い男が川のそばにいると、いつの間にか姿を現すという妖怪川姫。
川姫の美しい姿を見た若い男は一瞬で恋をしてしまう。
しかし、恋をしたら川姫に精気を吸い取られてしまう。
川姫が現れたら年寄りが戒めの合図をし、若者たちがすぐさま下を向いて息を殺すことで、この災いから逃れられるという。
