Yokai Muzina “貉” #9

Muzina is a very old yokai, but its true identity is shrouded in mystery.

According to one theory, Muzina is a raccoon dog demon that disguised itself as a monk and called out to people on the streets and mountain paths at night, telling them to drink water and drink tea.

Muzina is also said to have appeared as a human woman.

ムジナは非常に古い妖怪だが、その正体は謎に包まれている。

一説によると、ムジナはタヌキの妖怪で、僧侶に化けて夜道や山道で「水を飲め」「茶を飲め」と声をかけていたという。

また、ムジナは人間の女性の姿でも現れたと言われている。
